Lang Lang International Music Foundation To Expand She's A Star to Empower More Young Women in Music
10 March 2025 - Press releaseOn International Women's Day, the Lang Lang International Music Foundation (LLIMF) is proud to announce plans to expand She's A Star, its groundbreaking programme dedicated to empowering young women through the arts.
Following a successful launch in October 2024 at Hornsey School for Girls in partnership with Haringey Music Services, LLIMF aims to bring She's A Star to more schools globally, ensuring that every aspiring female artist has a stage to shine.
Despite progress, women remain underrepresented in the music industry, with female artists, executives, and creatives still facing barriers to entry and advancement. She's A Star is changing that by providing mentorship, guidance, and opportunities for young women to thrive. Through workshops and masterclasses, the programme fosters confidence, self-expression, and career development, helping young women break barriers and succeed in creative industries.
The launch event featured two dynamic sessions led by industry leaders:
-
Michelle Teh, Vice President of Universal Music Global Classics & Jazz, shared her journey managing iconic labels such as Decca and Blue Note. She was joined by Vinisha Nadarajah, a junior team member at Universal Music Group, who provided insights into launching a career in the music business.
-
Tara Joseph, a renowned music manager, discussed her experience representing high-profile clients like Victoria Beckham, Jamie Dornan, and Katherine Jenkins. She was accompanied by rising artist Tamzene, who shared her perspective on the artist-manager relationship and navigating the industry as a young woman.
"As musicians and artists, we have a responsibility to inspire and uplift the next generation," said Lang Lang, globally-renowned pianist and founder of LLIMF. "She's A Star is about giving young women the confidence and opportunities they need to shine. Music has the power to change lives, and by providing mentorship and guidance, we can help shape a future where their voices are heard and celebrated."
With its successful launch, She's A Star is just the beginning. LLIMF is committed to expanding the programme and reaching more schools and young women globally. By continuing to provide mentorship, education, and opportunities, the foundation is dedicated to shaping a more inclusive future for women in music and the creative industries.
