Iain James, multiplatinum UK songwriter, inks exclusive publishing deal with Phrased Differently, making a glorious return to where it all started

 

Phrased Differently announced today that it has signed successful UK songwriter Iain James to an exclusive worldwide publishing deal. 

He started his song-writing career with Phrased Differently as one of the first signings to the then fledgling company, back in 2006 and his re-signing marks an epic homecoming for Iain. Both Iain and Phrased Differently have since been on remarkable journeys and reunite at the top of their respective games to create a powerful collaboration promising further triumph.

Iain has countless ‘A’ list releases under his belt, including 3 No. 1 UK singles, numerous gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards and has worked with artists as diverse as Anne-Marie, Sugababes, Little Mix, Emeli Sandé, One Direction, Olly Murs, Craig David, Professor Green, NCT 127, Shinee and more. He co-wrote Leona Lewis’ successful Christmas single “One More Sleep” and penned a song that won the Eurovision song contest.  

He also co-wrote British No. 1 single “Read All About It” by Emeli Sandé featuring Professor Green, as well as Sandé’s own version which appears on her two million selling album “Our Version Of Events”, which broke a record set by the Beatles for the longest continuous run in the UK Top 10.  The song has since sold over 4 million copies to date.  He has written several singles for UK girl group Little Mix including two No. 1’s “Wings” and “Shout Out To My Ex”.

In 2023, Phrased Differently won MusicWeek’s Independent Publisher of The Year Award, a testament to its excellence in global A&R and welcomes Iain to one of the most creative, active and respected independent publishers in the world.
