Sumud: A fundraising evening of music, spoken word and film for Palestine
The Union Chapel, Islington, London
Thursday 18th April at 7pm
Human rights organisation Amos Trust, Palestine Music Expo and London/Brighton-based promoters Form Presents are organising a fundraising evening of music, spoken word and film to raise funds for Palestine on Thursday 18th April at the Union Chapel in Islington, London.
The evening will include readings from:
- Brian Eno: Producer, artist and activist (U2, Coldplay, Roxy Music) – @brianeno
- Maxine Peake: Actress (Dinner Ladies, Shameless, Silk, The Village) – @betteblavatsky
- David Holmes: Musician, film composer and DJ (Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Primal Scream, The Ocean’s film trilogy) – @davidholmes_1969
And performances from:

⁃ Alabaster DePlume – @alabaster_deplume

The aim of the event is to:
• call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza
• provide unrestricted access to vital humanitarian support
• call for a cessation of violence
• demand the release of hostages
• demand the UK government ensures that all parties are held accountable under international law
• raise vital funds for food and medicine
Due to the multi-artist bill, the evening will include a mix of unique, shorter performances by all artists. The running order is subject to change. Additional performances to be confirmed.
Sumud is an Arabic word that means ‘steadfastness’ or ‘steadfast perseverance’ and is a common term used to describe Palestinian non-violent resistance against Israel’s occupation.
Amos Trust is a small, creative human rights organisation that has been working in Palestine for over 30 years. It works with local and international peace activists and partners with grass-roots projects and campaigns for Palestinian equal rights and an end to Israel’s apartheid policies.
