Fabric’s iconic dancefloor hosts music industry leaders to raise funds for education
04 December 2023 - Press releaseBridges For Music continued to promote impactful social change and raise money towards their mission of providing for South Africa’s youth at their annual gala this week.
Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, the music and education charity hosted their sold-out charity dinner at London’s iconic FABRIC venue. Continuing to showcase their important connection to the dance music community, the event brought together over one hundred special guests to raise funds for Bridges For Music’s education programs, from renowned DJ Skrillex to music industry leaders. All funds raised will go towards the pioneering school in the South African township Langa, a unique centre on the continent that has welcomed visits from the likes of Ed Sheeran, Skrillex, Bonobo, and more.
The evening was a resounding success, raising significant funds towards the charity with pledges from long standing partners Nandos and Pioneer DJ in addition to Defected Records, Resident Advisor, and from Skrillex himself. Entertainment rested in the capable hands of South African rising stars Toya Delax and award-winning Msaki, who shared her passion for using music a tool for driving social change “Coming from a city like East London in South Africa, I saw first-hand what it means for young people to not have access to safe spaces and the right mentorship. It's why I’m part of Bridges For Music, to give the tools and guidance to young people who otherwise would not have it and would probably end up caught up in the wrong side of things.”
