Dougie Anderson RIP

Jon Webster writes:
Dougie Anderson, record retailer extraordinaire has sadly passed away. Dougie spent fifty years in retail initially at the legendary Bruce's in Edinburgh, before moving to Virgin. He later opened and managed the Princes Street store before becoming area manager for Scotland. He left Virgin in 1989 at which point he was one of the longest serving members of staff and opened the Coda Music store in 1990 with fellow Virgin staffer Rose Norton. They built the original store into a Scottish chain with their expertise and tireless hard work resulting in an outpouring of thanks and regret from hundreds of satisfied customers when they retired in January 2019.

Dougie was never slow in voicing an opinion about the industry that both supported and exasperated him. A tireless champion of the indie ethos he was passionate about artists and worked with many to further their careers. In his working life he touched the lives of thousands of customers and made many friends who will miss him hugely.

The last two years his whole world was wee Brodie his grandson.  Dougie was calmer, happier and full of joy.
