DOORS OPEN : Unlocking Opportunities in the Music Industry
Doors Open, the pioneering job platform for the electronic music industry, is proud to announce its rebrand and transition to a not-for-profit electronic music jobs and opportunities platform. In line with the transition, Doors Open also reveal a brand new website with increased functionality, resource hub and increased activity around their existing initiatives - UNLOCKED and FORWARD IN SOUND.

As a newly registered Community Interest Company (CIC), 100% of Doors Open’s profits are reinvested into creating opportunities and resources to help individuals find their dream job in the music industry. Doors Open is a not-for-profit platform dedicated to connecting individuals with jobs and career opportunities in the music industry. As a CIC, Doors Open is committed to creating equitable access for those passionate about music but who may face barriers to entry. Profits generated by the platform will be reinvested into resources, programs, and initiatives designed to support a more diverse and inclusive workforce across the music industry.

Doors Open Resources: An Updated Hub for Music Opportunities
The rebrand also includes a relaunch of the Doors Open YouTube channel which will host content from each programme, skill-sharing masterclasses and top tips from experts in the industry. The first online content mini series will be published in collaboration with creative content agency Mutual Friends. These masterclasses are geared towards improving employability as a content creator with sessions focused on “Getting Started,” “Landing the job,” “Connections and clients” and “Delivery.”

Our Mission: Creating a Fairer Employment Landscape
At the core of the Doors Open mission is a dedication to building a fairer employment landscape. Doors Open exists to support both job seekers and employers by providing the tools and opportunities needed to foster a more diverse and inclusive music workforce.

The music industry offers a wide range of career paths, but not everyone has equal access to them. Doors Open was created to address this issue and drive equitable change within the community. By expanding access to career opportunities, work experience, and resources, the platform seeks to break down barriers and help those from underrepresented backgrounds thrive in the music industry.

Key Initiatives: Unlocked and Forward in Sound
One of the flagship projects under the Doors Open umbrella is Unlocked, a free annual one-day career development event launched in 2022. This event, taking place next on 23rd November 2024 in London, brings together industry professionals, employers, and job seekers for a day of workshops, networking, and insight into the music industry. It offers participants an invaluable opportunity to gain hands-on knowledge and connect with key players across the sector.

Additionally, Doors Open ensures that all work experience opportunities offered through its platform are paid, and there are no upper age limits for any of its initiatives. Whether you are just starting out or looking to pivot into the music industry later in life, Doors Open believes it is never too late to pursue your dream career in music.

This means the creation of more free resources, additional career development programs, and more access to paid opportunities within the music industry. Doors Open ensures that its events, such as Unlocked, are always free to attend, in order to remove financial barriers for participants.
