DiMA appoints Colin Rushing as new EVP and General Counsel



DiMA appoints industry veteran Colin Rushing to the role of EVP and General Counsel, following the recent appointment of Graham Davies as President and CEO at the music streaming trade association.

 

The Digital Media Association (DiMA) has appointed Colin Rushing to the newly established position of Executive Vice President and General Counsel. Rushing, a seasoned industry executive and copyright lawyer, was formerly the Chief Legal Officer of SoundExchange, Inc. and before that a litigator at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP.

DiMA President and CEO Graham Davies said “I am thrilled for Colin to join DiMA as we embark on our new strategy. He brings all his invaluable expertise of US copyright law and a reputation for achieving consensus solutions. Colin’s knowledge of the US licensing system combined with his passion for championing streaming will be hugely valuable. His appointment underlines our work on a global basis, where we seek maintain and develop environments that ensure our members can continue to innovate and contribute to the music growth success story.”

Rushing has been included on Billboard’s  “Top Music Lawyers” list, and currently serves as an Adjunct Instructor at Belmont University as well as Director of the Copyright Society of the South.

Rushing added: “Over the past decade DiMA’s members have created enormous value for music creators and fans alike, driving rapid growth for the entire music industry in the process.
