Concord Music Publishing in partnership with Immensum Music are pleased to announce the signing of Ghanian-American pop artist and songwriter Amaarae. The worldwide publishing deal includes her full catalog and all future works, including her 2023 album Fountain Baby, which received universal critical acclaim and is generating Grammy Award buzz.
Fountain Baby received acclaim from NPR, Variety, The Telegraph, among many others. It was lauded as "one of the best pop albums of the year" by Pitchfork as well as one of the Best Albums of 2023 by Rolling Stone. The album was also rated #1 Best Album of 2023 by Metacritic and Amaarae was touted as "Ghana's breakthrough music sensation" by Vogue. "I feel very much at home among Concord's roster of stellar artists and I'm confident that the teams at Concord and Immensum will ensure my music is optimized in all the right global spaces," says Amaarae.
Amaarae's multicultural upbringing in the U.S. and Ghana is a huge influence for her genre-mashing sound, which blends R&B, hip-hop, punk rock, and Afropop. She has collaborated with other top artists such as Kaytranada and Amine, with their new project KAYTRAMINE, Stormzy, Baby Face, Janelle Monáe, and global artists like CKay, Tiwa Savage and more. In celebration of Marvel's sequel Black Panther: Wakana Forever, Amaarae released "A Body, a Coffin" on the movie soundtrack EP alongside artists such as Tems, Santa Fe Klan.
Her international breakthrough came with a remix of her single "SAD GIRLZ LUV MONEY," featuring Latin pop artist Kali Uchis. The remix, off her debut album THE ANGEL YOU DON'T KNOW, went viral on social media in 2021 with over 5.3M TikTok views. The track has 1.2B streams globally across platforms and charted internationally, making her the first Ghanian artist to debut on the Billboard Hot 100 and reaching the Top 30 in the U.K., New Zealand, and Switzerland.
Jeremy Yohai, SVP A&R at Concord Music Publishing states "Amaarae's unique vision and approach to songwriting, place her as one of the most exciting new voices in pop music."
This spring Amaarae starred and performed in the campaign for fashion house Mugler's collaboration with H&M alongside artists Shy Girl, Eartheater. In 2024 Amaarae will embark on the Fountain Baby tour, with stops in New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, Toronto and more.
Founder of Immensum Music, Koch Okoye, states: "This deal for Ama is one we can truly call an accomplishment. I remember watching her first video for "Fluid" back in 2018 and being instantly blown away by the creative merger of her unique vocal ability and visual expression. We had hoped to work with her instantly and have followed her career progression closely ever since. We're all very happy to finally be playing on the same team."
