Concord Music Publishing announces promotions of Kourtney Kirkpatrick and Matt Turner

Promotions from Concord Music Publishing’s Sync and A&R team in Nashville boost recent successes from the catalog and active roster

Today, Concord Music Publishing announced two notable executive level promotions in the Nashville office: Kourtney Kirkpatrick has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Synchronization and Matt Turner has been promoted to Vice President of A&R.

Kourtney Kirkpatrick will step into the role of SVP of Sync, where she currently heads the television division which includes series, promos, trailers and sports media and manages three direct reports based across Los Angeles, Nashville, and New York. Working to pitch and license the songs of Concord writers, Kirkpatrick and her team promote iconic catalogs including music by Rodgers & Hammerstein, John Fogerty, Phil Collins and Genesis, Robert Johnson, and more. Kirkpatrick and her team work to reimagine iconic works Concord owns to tailor them for sync placements, and her expansive knowledge of the catalog has been an invaluable asset to the revitalization of Concord’s catalog through remixes and covers.

In her time at Concord, Kirkpatrick and her team have secured notable sync placements in television series across nearly all networks and streaming platforms including “The Bear,” “The Penguin,” “Shrinking,” “Hacks,” “You,” “Euphoria,” “Stranger Things,” “Yellowstone,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Ozark,” “Big Little Lies,” “True Detective: Night Country,” “Ted Lasso,” and “Grey’s Anatomy” as well as trailer uses across studios FOX, Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Apple, Amazon, and Starz as well as for major brands such as XBOX and Microsoft. Throughout her career, Kirkpatrick has worked to sign and develop sync-focused artists and writers such as Ruelle, who was named to Billboard/TuneFind’s year-end chart of Top Synced Artists for several years, topping the list in 2018.

Kirkpatrick also spearheads Concord’s annual sync camp in Nashville. Taking place for the twelfth annual time, the camp hosts over 80 songwriters and several music supervisors for a week to create original music for all media. The camp has garnered 350+ sync placements to date. In conjunction with the Nashville camp, Kirkpatrick has also led the expansion of Concord’s sync camps around the globe, focusing on specific territories and mediums. In the past year, Concord has hosted ten sync specific writing camps in Los Angeles, Nashville, Ireland, Dorset, Paris, New Zealand, Mexico City and more.

Kirkpatrick was named to Billboard’s “40 Under 40” list in 2020, is a member of the Nashville Film Festival, and a founding board member of the new collective Nashville in Sync, a community building organization of sync professionals that aims to connect and expand the music and film community in Nashville. Prior to joining Concord in 2018, she worked as Senior Director of Film/TV at Razor & Tie (acquired by Concord) and got her start in the industry at indie publisher Big Yellow Dog Music, helping to establish the company’s sync department.

In his new role as VP of A&R, Matt Turner will continue his responsibilities of identifying talent, managing new client negotiations, and catalog exploitation. This promotion celebrates his dedication and contributions to Concord, specifically his work growing the company’s roster in the Nashville and country space. Turner works across all types of songwriters in the country format, including recording artists, producers, and topliners.

With 18 years of experience in the industry, Turner brings executive-level insights to the team and has added some of the best talent in the industry to the Concord roster which has translated to success on the Country charts. In 2024, writers from Concord’s Nashville roster wrote on five Country Radio #1 hits and only a month into 2025 have added two more including Morgan Wallen’s “Lies Lies Lies,” Parmalee’s “Gonna Love You,” Dan + Shay’s “Bigger Houses.” Turner has been instrumental in helping Concord secure publishing deals with writers like Josh Miller, Andy Albert, and Abram Dean, all who clinched #1 hits.

Prior to joining Concord, Turner has worked at independent publisher Big Loud Shirt, now known as Big Loud. During his time there, he worked closely with founder Craig Wiseman as well as writers Chris Tompkins, Rodney Clawson, Matt Dragstrem, and the Warren Brothers and was involved in the early songwriting careers of Morgan Wallen and Chris Lane. After his time at Big Loud, Turner joined the Downtown Music Publishing team, representing their expansive roster of writers including country music hit makers Andy Albert, Andrew DeRoberts and Joey Hyde. Turner’s promotion further underscores Concord’s growth in Nashville, and the development of Concord’s country music roster.
