Caroline International announce partnership with EGA Records and appoint Colin Batsa as A&R Consultant
02 October 2018 - Press releaseCaroline International has today announced a new partnership with EGA Records, the masterminds behind artists including Oh Wonder, Devlin and new signed Sharna Bass. In addition, Caroline International have also appointed EGA CO-Founder Colin Batsa as A&R Consultant.
Batsa co-owns EGA Music Group with Victor Omos and Charley Snook, which launched in 2010. Before forming their management company, the team ran a digital distribution company distributing artists from the UK street scene from 2006-2009. EGA Music Group was established in 2010 with the launch of Devlin, whose debut album “Bud, Sweat and Beers”, released via Island Records was certified Gold and featured two top 10 hits including “Watchtower” featuring Ed Sheeran.
Batsa says of the appointment, “We are extremely excited to be partnering with Caroline International and we believe EGA/Caroline International is a match made in heaven. Here you have a small and credible company, joining forces with the best label services team in the business and combining all of that with the power of Universal. I am also very honoured to be an A&R consultant at Caroline International and hope to make my mark on the label services sector. Michael and Jim are the best people we’ve ever worked with in the business and arguably the nicest people we’ve ever met.”
Co-MD of Caroline International, Jim Chancellor says, “We are so excited to welcome Colin and the EGA family to the Caroline fold. EGA are one of the best at what they do and Colin is one of the most respected music gurus out there. With years of experience and knowledge he is the perfect fit for Caroline International; plus the man is diamond geezer."
EGA Records was established in 2014 to develop talent, where they had success with the Meridian Dan single “German Whip”, which was released via PMR/Virgin EMI. The track, which has sold over 130,000 singles to date, helped move the culture forward and was one of the singles that helped grow this space into what it is today. A label deal with Island in 2014 saw EGA sign Oh Wonder, directly to Island, showing that they could sign artists outside of their exisiting world. Oh Wonder’s first album went through Caroline International which is how the relationship started. The band went on to have near to a billion streams, and their track “All We Do” is currently the soundtrack to the hit ITV drama “Unforgotten”.
