Bree Runway, Connie Constance, Matilda Mann and RORY to perform live shows in London for War Child in October

Bree Runway, Connie Constance, Matilda Mann and RØRY are all set to perform intimate live shows in venues across London throughout the week commencing 7th October in support of War Child - the specialist charity to protect, educate and stand up for the rights of children living in war zones.

British singer and rapper Bree Runway will kick off the series of shows on 8th October at Lafayette, London on the same day as alternative rock artist RØRY at 100 Club, London.

Bree Runway is back with a bang in 2024, with a huge new single and video, "PAWZ", to be released via her independent label, FREE RUNWAY RECORDS, on 29th August at 6pm BST. She’s also on track to be releasing even more incredible new music soon.

RØRY, Heavy Music Awards' 2024 UK Breakthrough Artist, recently supported War Child by donating all the money raised through her track "MORALITY $UICIDE" and a bespoke t-shirt sale.

RØRY said: “When girls stand together, there's nothing we can't achieve. Day of the Girl is an amazing opportunity to celebrate the power of female unity and lift each other up to create a better future."

Indie-folk artist Matilda Mann will take to the stage at Lafayette, London on 9th October, and finally, closing out Day of the Girl in style, English alternative pop artist, Connie Constance will play at The Lexington, London on 12th October.

Connie Constance said: “I’m honoured to be part of War Child’s Day of the Girl! It’s incredibly important to me to be empowering women through my music so I’m excited to be celebrating our feminine power by headlining one of the shows. Equal opportunity for all children is a dream I too share. With so much devastation happening around the world I’m grateful that I can be a part of the change whilst sharing the stage with some of the most interesting alternative artists coming out of the UK. Expect a night of indie party, front women rockstars and raw talent.

The Day of the Girl shows are more than just performances; they are a lifeline for girls and women surviving war.

Gender inequality escalates to alarming levels in areas affected by crisis. Those assigned female at birth are at a 20% higher risk of child marriage and are 2.5 times more likely to be out of school. 1 in 5 girls and women suffer sexual violence and often can't access healthcare.

This has devastating impacts on their health, wellbeing and their future. Girls and women didn’t start these wars, yet they are paying the price. That’s why the Day of the Girl shows are vital.

Taking place around the UN’s International Day of the Girl Child, the shows highlight War Child’s work protecting, educating, and advocating for the rights of girls and women amidst the turmoil of war.

Clare Sanders-Wright, Live Music Lead at War Child said: “We are so excited to be launching the Day of the Girl 2024 shows, with the incredible Bree Runway, RØRY, Matilda Mann, and Connie Constance headlining this year.

“A staggering £150K has been raised through ticket sales and fundraising through Day of the Girl since 2021, with some of the UK’s most innovative female-identifying artists sharing their voices to dial up War Child’s message and work.

"A massive thank you to the artists, partners, and everyone who buys a ticket!”

The event’s headline sponsor is YouTube Music, an app made for music listening on top of the magic of YouTube: making the world of music easier to explore and more personalised than ever.

As part of Day of the Girl, War Child and YouTube Music will also be hosting a 'Women in Music and Creative Industries Panel Day' event at Google Digital Studios, Pancras Square, London (further details to follow) to help inspire the next generation of female identifying leaders in the music and creative industries.

The Women in Music and Creative Industries Panel Day event is where some of the music industry’s brightest minds come together to discuss key issues affecting women while celebrating their incredible achievements.

The 2023 event was a highlight, hosted by the charismatic Kemi Rogers and featuring a powerful keynote interview with Mae Muller. The discussions centred on empowering excellence in the music industry, championing women in leadership, and breaking down barriers to accessing pathways into the industry.

Lizzie Dickson, Head of YouTube Music UK said: “We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with War Child for their annual Day of The Girl gigs. We endeavour to celebrate and champion women artists on and off our platform year-round- so it's a privilege to be part of this series of events which showcases exciting new female talent as well as raising critical funding to support girls and young women around the world."

Shows will also be part-sponsored by Women of YouTube, as part of their global events series YouTube Creator Collective, which will see the Women of YouTube creator community invited to come together and join our shows.

This year, DICE and See Tickets are the official ticket providers, and they will be donating all booking fees to War Child. DICE will also offer fans the option to add an extra donation to War Child at the point of ticket purchase.

Communion ONE are generously acting as promoter partner and DHL are kindly supporting the sponsorship of the event.
