BPI expands its Equity and Justice Advisory Group (EJAG)

The BPI, the representative voice for the UK’s world-leading record companies and label businesses, today announces details of an expansion to its Equity and Justice Advisory Group (EJAG), which now has nine new recruits to bring their breadth of experience and talents to bear alongside that of its existing members.

Chaired by BPI Chair YolanDa Brown OBE DL, EJAG is a diverse and intersectional board of music and creative industry professionals, which assists the BPI in advocating for the progression of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) work across the sector, in line with the BPI’s DEI Strategy and Vision. When necessary, EJAG supports the BPI by providing the voice of a critical friend to create collaborative and inclusive change in the industry.

The nine new EJAG members are each beginning a two-year term and will be joining the 11 existing EJAG members, seven of whom will step down at the end of 2025. In line with its updated governance for its committees and advisory groups, the BPI plans to recruit for a new intake of EJAG members every Autumn going forward.

The new EJAG members are:

Alex Hannaby

Asma Siddique

Eve Horne

Iona Rodger

Laura Lewis-Paul

María Cecilia Ayalde Ángel

Martina Connors

Matt Cham

Trenton Tomlinson

These new recruits have joined the existing EJAG members comprising Amanda Maxwell, Arit Eminue MBE, Ben Price, Indy Vidyalankara, Jasmine Dotiwala OBE, Kwame Kwaten, Mackinlay Ingham, Meenal Odedra, Mervyn Lyn, Paulette Long OBE, Sharon Brooks, and Chair Yolanda Brown OBE DL. EJAG is also supported by an internal BPI group, led by BPI DEI Manager Hailey Willington.  See link for more info, images & bios.

BPI Chair, YolanDa Brown OBE DL, and Chair of EJAG, said:
On behalf of the BPI and the existing EJAG members, we are excited to welcome these talented new recruits to the group, and look forward to the complementary experiences and additional perspectives they will each bring to inform our continuing work in promoting equity and inclusion across our industry."

Hailey Willington, BPI DEI Manager, who lead the EJAG recruitment process, said:
“EJAG is a group with an important legacy at the BPI. EJAG’s support continues to be key in delivering BPI’s Five Year DEI strategy and in developing its evolving work to foster a more inclusive industry, one where everyone’s potential can be realised in a nurturing environment – the more diverse and inclusive our industry is, the greater its prospects for success.”
