Blackstar announces new Director of Innovation & Culture and new Brixton panel event

Blackstar Agency has appointed Breyner Baptista as its new Director of Innovation & Culture. This role marks a strategic step for the agency, enabling it to expand its presence within education, pursue specialised projects, explore new partnerships, and extend its reach into broader territories.
Breyner returns to Blackstar following a period in fashion marketing at Billionaire Boys Club EU, bringing a wealth of experience from his work on high-profile campaigns for acts such as The War On Drugs and Mustafa. Breyner will bring his rich background both in front of and behind the scenes of the music industry, having worked as an A&R, songwriter, and producer/artist, working with artists such as Jessie Ware, Bakar, and Ryan Ashley, as well as supporting the Paul Institute across a variety of initiatives.
His recruitment follows a remarkable year for Blackstar, supporting BMG on their latest number-one with Kylie Minogue and overseeing successful solo career launches for Perrie and Damiano David with Sony Music. Meanwhile, the team in North America is celebrating a slew of 2024 Grammy-nominated projects, including Andre 3000, Mustard, Nine Inch Nails, and Avril Lavigne. The agency also receives a ‘Best Agency’ nomination at the Music Ally Awards 2024.

Alongside this, Breyner will also be working across business development, building strategic partnerships and identifying new opportunities that align with Blackstar’s core services to broaden the agency’s influence and deliver the value that resonates through the music industry.

A key initiative for Breyner’s role at Blackstar will be to continue the agency's Brixton-based panel series, “Blackstar Presents.” On December 5th, they will host a free winter wellbeing-based panel with industry experts, which will be perfectly timed to support the music community during the colder months.
