ACCLAIMED WRITER & NEW MUSIC CHAMPION PAUL LESTER JOINS AMAZING RADIO

The Amazing Media Group (incorporating amazingtunes and DAB digital radio station Amazing Radio) has today announced the appointment of music journalist, author and new music champion Paul Lester, (writer of The Guardian’s celebrated ‘New Band Of The Day’), who will present his own weekly evening show starting in July 2011.
Paul Lester has been writing about music and interviewing musicians for over 20 years. He began freelancing for Melody Maker and Time Out in the late 80s, and was made Features Editor of Melody Maker in 1993. In 1997, he was a member of the team that launched Uncut Magazine where he became Deputy Editor. In 2006 he went freelance again and has since written extensively for The Guardian, the Times, the Sunday Times, the Telegraph, the Mail On Sunday, the Express, Record Collector, Classic Rock, and the Jewish Chronicle. He has also written books on Oasis, Blur, Pulp, Bjork, the Verve, Gang Of Four, Wire, Dizzee Rascal, Lady Gaga, Robbie Williams, the Spice Girls, and Pink. Recently Paul has perhaps become best known as the writer of The Guardian’s renowned ‘New Band Of The Day’ column, for which he has covered over 1000 up-and-coming artists.
Says Paul Campbell, CEO of The Amazing Media Group: “I’ve admired Paul Lester’s ear for new music from afar for ages and here at amazing we’re all about new music, so I’m delighted that we’ve been able to persuade Paul to get behind the mic and play some of the great music he writes about so passionately.”
Says Paul Lester: "I am delighted to have been offered a show on Amazing Radio and can't quite believe I'm going to be able to play some of my favourite new music and generally spread the word about how healthy the new music scene is in 2011 on such an exciting new station as Amazing.”
