Abbey Road Equalise festival returns for its sixth year

THIS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY ABBEY ROAD EQUALISE INVITES THE NEXT GENERATION OF FEMALE AND NON-BINARY ARTISTS AND CREATIVES TO A SERIES OF FREE RECORDING WORKSHOPS BETWEEN 3RD - 8TH MARCH

Abbey Road has today announced details of the sixth edition of its annual Equalise festival, taking place for six days between 3rd-8th March. Equalise invites the next generation of female and non-binary artists and creatives to a series of immersive recording workshops, providing hands-on learning opportunities for eight aspiring female or non-binary engineers and producers each day.

This year’s Equalise programme features workshop sessions from rising artists, including Aziya (3th March), Divorce (4th March), Man/Woman/Chainsaw (5th March), Fiona-Lee (6th March) and Flowerlove (7th March) and a final act to be confirmed for 8th March (International Women’s Day). The respective acts will each record a new piece of music as part of their studio session, while aspiring artists, engineers and producers are invited into the room to observe the sessions. Producer, alternative pop artist, and harmonica player Sarah Meyz will be producing the sessions, with Abbey Road’s Assistant Engineer Marta Di Nozzi engineering.

Speaking about Abbey Road’s Equalise programme for 2025, the studios’ Managing Director, Sally Davies says: “I am incredibly proud that the Abbey Road Equalise programme is entering its sixth year. At Abbey Road, we believe in fostering a diverse and inclusive music industry and Equalise plays a vital role in creating opportunities for talented young women and non-binary individuals. By providing young talent with access to our facilities and mentorship from our engineers, we hope to empower the next generation of creative talent to shape the sound of tomorrow. Equalise is not just about providing technical skills; it's about fostering a supportive community and breaking down barriers for underrepresented voices.”

Head of Brand & Communications, Mark Robertson says: “The line-up for this year’s Equalise studio sessions includes some of the most happening names in contemporary music in 2025 and those who made a serious impact on the 2025 artist lists. Our immense gratitude to all the artists giving up their time to help inform and inspire young women making their first steps in engineering and production.”

The ballot for participation in this year’s Equalise closes on Sunday, 23rd February at 23:59 PM and winners will be selected and notified on Monday 24th February. To submit your work for consideration, please use the form here.

Since its inception in early 2020, Abbey Road Equalise has been committed to raising awareness and understanding of production and engineering as a viable career path for underrepresented groups, given that less than 5% of producers and engineers are female. Over the past six years, Abbey Road Equalise has spearheaded various initiatives coinciding with International Women’s Day, Pride and Trans Day of Visibility - highlighting the need to drive greater gender balance in the music industry.
