28 UK music creators receive support to attend SXSW 2024 through PRS Foundation’s International Showcase Fund

PRS Foundation, the UK’s leading charitable funder of new music and talent development, announces today that 28 UK artists are receiving support through the International Showcase Fund to perform at SXSW festival in Austin, Texas USA from 10th March 2024.

The artists selected for International Showcase Fund support to perform at SXSW represent some of the most exciting talent from across the UK making waves and in different genres, such as Conchúr White (indie/folk) picking up a 9/10 review in Hot Press for his recent debut album, Chiedu Oraka (rap/grime) performing for the first time at the Great Escape 2023 and then headlining 2 shows at Independent Venue Week 2024, Aleighcia Scott (reggae) featuring in Reggae Vibes Magazine and her new album “Windrush Baby” being voted Album of the Year by Reggaeville and Humour (rock) being hailed by the NME as “leading the pack of new restless guitar bands”.
International Showcase Fund supported Aleighcia Scott said, “Thanks PRS Foundation and the International Showcase Fund! Without the fund it wouldn't be possible to take my band, which now means we can showcase to the best of our ability to our wider audience.”
International Showcase Fund supported Lambrini Girls said, “We are so excited to receive this fund. In a climate where playing across the pond is harder than ever, the International Showcase Fund is making it possible for us!”
International Showcase Fund supported Reevah, “I am beyond grateful to the PRS Foundation for their support, being granted the International Showcase Fund has meant Reevah is able to travel and perform at SXSW 2024.”
International Showcase Fund supported Iona Zajac: said, “I am absolutely delighted to have received funding for SXSW 2024. Having just completed the recording of my debut album, this support to perform at SXSW has come at the perfect time for me!”

The International Showcase Fund is run by PRS Foundation in partnership with Department for Business and Trade, Arts Council England, British Underground, Musicians' Union, Creative Scotland, PPL, Wales Arts International, Arts Council of Northern Ireland and British Council. It offers vital and timely support for artists to take their first steps into international territories by enabling them to perform at key showcasing festivals and conferences such as Canadian Music Week, SXSW, Reeperbahn Festival, Zandari Festival, Womex, Eurosonic, Jazzahead and Mutek which attract thousands of people working in the music industry from every corner of the globe.

In the fund’s report spanning 2016-19, 91% of supported artists returned from overseas showcasing with tangible business outcomes and every £1 invested by the International Showcase Fund generated an additional £6.20 in revenues for the supported artist.
