23rd Precinct Music announce new publishing deal with Scottish rock icons Gun
04 June 2024 - Press release
23rd Precinct Music is delighted to announce a new publishing deal with Scottish rock band Gun for their brand-new album ‘Hombres’ – released on 12 April via Cooking Vinyl. The album has already had great success making the Music Week Top 10 album charts as well as having multiple tracks featuring in Samuel L. Jackson’s new film Damaged.
Formed in 1987, the perennial rockers have released nine albums in the last four decades, three of which have hit the UK Top 20. They’ve also achieved eight UK Top 40 singles, including a cover of Cameo’s ‘Word Up ‘which reached the UK Top 10 and charted all over Europe, winning the band an MTV Europe Music Award.
Marking an illustrious new era for the group, ‘Hombres’ is the band’s first new record of all-new material in seven years. Written in the aftermath of lockdown, founding brothers Dante and Giuliano Gizzi said they needed to write an album “that would save the band… and save themselves”. Revitalised with a renewed thirst for their craft, the result is their best collection of songs in years. ‘Hombres’ is not so much a new album as a primal release; it roars out the speakers with the fury of a band who’ve spent too many years contained.
Speaking about the new publishing deal with 23rd Precinct, the band’s Giuliamo Gizzi said:"We're thrilled to sign our publishing to 23rd Precinct/Notting Hill Music. The enthusiasm of Billy Kiltie and Rosie Watson at 23rd Precinct as well as Dave Loader, John Saunderson and the team at Notting Hill in London, will hopefully take our music to the next level"
The signing of Gun continues 23rd Precinct’s rich tradition for nurturing exciting songwriting talent. First established in 1992 following the success of the 23rd Precinct record shop in Glasgow, the publishing company was created to support the launch of the store’s own record label ‘Limbo Records’. Since then, the team has enjoyed huge success with many artists – spanning all genres and styles.
Currently the company represents artists and writers including Bobby Bluebell, The McCluskey Brothers, Paul Quinn, Angelica Bjornsson, Paul McGeechan, Jim McCulloch, Zal Cleminson, Ben Macklin, Televisor, Shena Winchester, Ryan Sewell, Danko, Nina Schofield, Mark Sherry, Dan Pearce, Public Domain, David Forbes, Gary Dillon, Stuart McInnes and more. The extensive 23rd Precinct Music catalogue includes hits like “Black Eyed Boy” & “Summer Son” by Texas, “In The Dark” by Purple Disco Machine with Sophie & The Giants, “Young At Heart” & “I’m Falling” by The Bluebells and “Operation Blade” by Public Domain.
Speaking about the new publishing deal with Gun, the team at 23rd Precinct said “We are delighted to be working alongside Gun at 23rd Precinct Music. Gun have cemented themselves as one of Scotland’s greatest rock groups and we’re excited to support this next chapter of their legacy.”
23rd Precinct Music is supported by long running partners Notting Hill Music, which is one of the UK’s leading independent publishers based in London.
