Homesick
We say
Great Escape delegates: make sure you catch Llandudno four piece Catfish and the Bottlemen, who trade in that rarest of commodities these days - riotous rock 'n' roll songs that knock you sideways both live and on record. After joining the thoroughbred Communion stable (Ben Howard, Gotye, Half Moon Run) in the spring, the band headed to Rockfield studios with producer and label co-founder Ian Grimble, emerging with explosive debut Homesick - a hefty, eviscerating chorus presaged by the time-bomb tick of rim shot and plucked electric guitar. Steve Lamacq was an early supporter, with Zane Lowe making this track his Next Hype last Wednesday. Catfish boast a remarkable work rate - something like 200 gigs in the last two years - and now embark on a headline tour throughout May and June. Ones to watch - if you can keep up.
Great Escape show: Above Audio, May 16, on stage 20.30.
