Contagious
We say
Thirty-years ago, the legendary Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis created some of the world’s biggest hits of that era for acts including The S.O.S. Band, The Human League and, most notably, Janet Jackson on her seminal album Control. Now in 2016, Finnish group Beverly Girl crank the retro-funk factor right up to 11 again with this outrageously cool single that you’d swear was crafted by that brilliant duo. The band are an electronic R&B-infleunced trio who've just launched their own monthly Club Beverly night in Helsinki. Their love of this music is infectious and spills out into the insane groove they bring us on this, their second single, released earlier this month in Finland on an indie label there. Having played already at Flow Festival, Lost In Music and Pride Helsinki, we’d love to see them here next, as we’re certain UK audiences would go crackers for their music and stage show. They’ve got more than 20 songs all ready to go, and if even half of them are as fabulous as this, that’ll be one solid album to feast upon later this year. To paraphrase the mighty Prince, tonight we’re gonna party like it’s 1986.
