Good Witch
We say
We love the fact that Jeff Smith, the teams at Radio 2 and at BBC Introducing have all championed Earl over the past few months, especially as she’s an unsigned artist. This song's on the station’s B-list and we heard Chris Evans gush about it on his breakfast show a few days ago. Deservedly so too. Earl was born in Alaska and sang gospel in the local church choir, moved to LA at the age of 18 to pursue her musical ambitions and eventually arrived in London, where she’s now based. Her sound is steeped in the tradition of the church, giving her a truly heartfelt, soulful feel - one that’s impossible to fake convincingly. That’s why this track sounds so good. A full self-written album is close to completion, produced at RAK Studios, and she plays live tonight (January 20) at Notting Hill Arts Club, then again this Monday (January 25) at The Waiting Room in Stoke Newington. With BBC Introducing support since the summer, a Dermot O’Leary Radio 2 session under her belt and a brilliantly-received performance at the station’s Hyde Park festival last September, Earl's a girl that's the real deal.
