BLUEYES is the alias of Belfast-raised musician Bronagh Monahan and this sultry song is a standout from her four-track EP This Is What It’s Like To Live. Growing up surrounded by classical music, her late teens were spent in Scotland studying opera. A move to London last year coincided with her anonymously uploading this track to SoundCloud. Within weeks, French label Kitsuné had picked up on it along with tastemaker blogs including The Line Of Best Fit and Popjustice. She’s currently looking for management, a UK label and PR reps, and next plays live in London on February 4 at Torquil’s Bar at The Roundhouse with Keaton Henson. Sensual and seductive, this beautiful track engages and and enchants with every play. Perfectly understated and wonderfully atmospheric, its chilled feel reminds us of Earned It by The Weeknd from the 50 Shades Of Grey soundtrack. That ended up as one of the 20 best-selling singles of 2015. If anyone’s looking to sync a track for either of the forthcoming two follow-up movies, we think we may have found you the perfect contender.
