Take It Down

We say

Starling has been firmly on our radar since her first-ever live show at Servant’s Jazz Quarters in London recently. That gig sold-out in under 24 hours and you’ll understand why when you hear this spine-tingling pick from her debut four-track EP. Support at radio has been building with songs being staggered for release each month since July. Radio 1’s Clara Amfo, Annie Mac and Huw Stephens jumped on board alongside 6Music’s Mary-Anne Hobbs, Tom Robinson and Steve Lamacq, Radio 2’s Jo Whiley and Dermot O’Leary, and Xfm/Radio X’s John Kennedy and Jo Good. Plaintive, melancholic minor piano chords make way for a voice that’s bathed in fragility but strengthened by an angelic, almost other-worldly quality that transports you away whilst you submerge yourself in its soundscape. She’s currently available for record and publishing deals, and has had strong tastemaker support online with premieres for Line of Best Fit, Clash & Gigwise. It’s only 18 months since she emerged, but this shimmering gem shows she’s got the talent to truly make 2016 her own.
