Long Way Home
We say
We’re proud to have supported 22-year old Scottish singer songwriter Keri Watt through her two excellent previous tracks Who’s Lovin’ Me Now? and You. Here though, she delivers an absolute killer that outshines them both, taking her soaring to new heights. Signed to 25 Hour Convenience Store, a label set up last year by Gary Powell from returning heroes The Libertines, it’s restrained and heartfelt to begin with before letting loose. It's an epic build thanks to lavish production by Richard McNamara from the band Embrace, with luscious layers growing towards a moving, heart-swelling string section. Having played Isle Of Wight and Glastonbury recently along with the London Palladium last week, she's supporting The Overtones on tour now and Starsailor this autumn. Written, she says, whilst wrapped up in confusion and emotion, it’s a song so good, we feel it could be an anthem for any other act that eventually chooses to cover it in almost any genre you can name too. By whatever standard we measure it by, Long Way Home is undeniably world class stuff.
