We say

Appearing tonight (May 12) as support to the hotly-tipped Delta Rae at The Barfly in Camden before then hitting The Great Escape for two shows later this week, meet Al Bairre (pronounced Al-bear). Hailing from South Africa, they’re a Cape Town five-piece that includes a pair of twin sisters in the line-up and together with the fellas they make a rather exuberant and buoyant sound that’s very much pop but with an angular guitar edge. Combining other instruments like cello, violin and ukulele on top of some nifty little keyboard lines, we hear tasty influences like Vampire Weekend, Arcade Fire and even some old-skool Prefab Sprout pulsing through it all. This Saturday (May 16) they play a couple of gigs in Brighton as apart of TGE. Firstly there’s an afternoon set at Komedia Studio Bar and another at The Prince Albert later that evening. Alternatively they’re back in London at Shoreditch’s Bedroom Bar on May 20. Fresh and zesty with spunky summer vibes, their debut album comes early next year but we declare that the UK buzz for this lot should officially start right now.
