Dust And Bone
We say
With a range of influences cited from Bon Iver and The Doors through to Kings Of Convenience, here comes an absorbing young singer-songwriter to make you sit up and listen. Michael Baker is a 25-year-old London-based musician whose Georgia Mason collaboration is both spellbinding and intriguing. It comes from his latest EP which sees him develop as an artist, away from the no-frills acoustic guitar sound that dominates much of what else is around today. He recently played a sold-out London show at The Old Queen’s Head with his newly formed band and catch him live tonight (March 26) at The Water Rats. He's currently working with Stereophonics producer Jim Lowe and Bristol-based Dan Brown (who’s also crafting new music with other recently featured Record of the Day acts Karin Park and Jerry Williams, both of whom come from the excellent Big Hug Management roster). Carefully and patiently honing his sound and direction, this is enthralling right from the off. Ambition and wider musical horizons are firmly on the agenda here, that’s for sure.
