Always fabulous live, still fiercely independent and growing confidently as songwriters, it’s our third feature in ten months for Ward Thomas. We recently saw the Radio 2-championed sisters Catherine and Lizzy play London's Bush Hall to an enthusiastic crowd who lapped up the songs on the excellent debut album From Where We Stand (soon to be repackaged with a host of fresh tracks and live recordings from that Autumn tour). Their reputation both here in the UK and in Nashville's cut-throat world continues to build and Town Called Ugley features US country legend Vince Gill playing guitar on a true tale of an ill-fated car journey travelling through the oddly-name Essex town in the title. Chris Evans at Radio 2 has the group in for a session on March 6 to kick off the station's coverage of next month's C2C festival, at which the girls will also be appearing. Then comes a national tour including a London date at Islington Assembly Hall on March 26 plus a show at Brighton's Great Escape this May. Once the duo get a key primetime TV slot, watch that album fly again.
