Pretty DJ
We say
Championed by 6 Music's Huey Morgan after they stuffed a CD copy of this track into his hand at a Fun Lovin' Criminals gig recently, The Jacques formed just 10 months ago and are two sets of Bristolian brothers aged between 16 and 21. Raised on an audio diet of essential power-pop greats like The Strokes, The Jam and The Ramones, that vigour, urgency and energy has been channeled into their sound, creating this rather tasty little debut EP. Produced by Dan Swift at the legendary Rockfield Studio, the band's teenage drummer Elliot was the youngest ever to record there, no less. Signed by Gary Powell to the label he co-founded recently, after they supported his band The Libertines at Hyde Park this summer, they drew quite a crowd thanks to an underground word of mouth buzz. Their next London show is at Tooting Railway & Sports Club on November 21. This tight, spunky track has also found favour with XFM's John Kennedy. There's an old adage that youth is wasted on the young - for once though, there's no wastage here, believe us.
