We say
When Creation Records boss Alan McGee discovered Purdy it seems he was instantly taken with her character and distinctive vocal talents. He wasn't the first to be impressed though. She was recently invited to perform at a secret celebrity birthday party on Richard Branson's Necker Island and ended up supporting Lana Del Rey that evening. Now the singer and painter is about to release her debut album Diamond In The Dust, produced by Grammy Award-winner Andy Wright (noted for his work with Imelda May and Simply Red amongst others) which features this fabulously cool track. Already championed by BBC London and 6Music, her sound is grown-up sophisticated pop with a darker nod to many of those jazz-influenced greats from the 1950s and 60s like Nancy Sinatra and NIna Simone. Her co-composers include Rizzle Kicks-writer Emily Phillips along with Jamiroquai's pianist and producer Matt Johnson. Forthcoming London gigs include the Avanta Club in Hanover Square on August 29 and at the Music Week/I Luv Live showcase event Radar at Under The Bridge in Chelsea on September 4. Sultry, cinematic and seductive, we think we've fallen head over heels for her. Now it's time for you to follow suit.
