Starting life as a deep house instrumental that first surfaced on the underground late last year, Sonnentanz (translated as 'sun dance') is the work of Austrian duo Tobias Rieser and Adrian Held, otherwise known as Klangkarussell. Having amassed more than 25m YouTube hits to date, the instrumental has been a sales and airplay hit in its own right across Europe, becoming No 1 in Holland, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, where it was also crowned Song of the Year. Enjoying a second lease of life with the addition of a fresh vocal from rising British singer Will Heard, a 21-year-old gaining recognition for his fusion of jazz, folk and soul, the deep house anthem now goes by the name of Sonnentanz (Sun Don't Shine). Premiered by Zane Lowe last week, with additional spins from Rob Da Bank and Danny Howard at Radio 1 and Steve Smart at KISS, the signs of this year's summer anthem are becoming abundantly clear. With remixes from Jakwob and Ben Pearce on the horizon, this Cool Cuts and Buzz Chart No 2 hit is definitely one to watch amongst the otherwise hardcore EDM offerings.
