Hailing from East London, rising British-Nigerian singer-songwriter Phoenix Martins has been performing since the age of seven, having worked with The Noisettes, Fyfe Dangerfield and Ebony Bones in the last three years alone, as well as featuring in Damon Albarn's cross-cultural collaborations project Africa Express. Produced by Joe Fields and Nick Carter (Ben Harper, Mystery Jets, Neptunes), debut single Heart Strings showcases a distinctive, soulful voice and an instinctive songwriting talent, underpinned by oceanic, string-laden production that brings to mind a marriage of Lana Del Rey and Shara Nelson - certainly a tantalising taste of Martins' forthcoming album. Citing influences as diverse as Aaliyah and Springsteen, Phoenix has us excited to hear more.
