LLEIDA SESSIONS PRO, 30-31 October, Lleida

 Lleida Sessions Pro is part of Live Sessions Day, a new festival in Lleida, a beautiful university town set in the heart of Catalunya, an hour’s drive from Barcelona. 

Lleida Sessions Pro was set up by Martin Elbourne (Glastonbury / The Great Escape) and London, Barcelona and Berlin-based agency Sound Diplomacy, in partnership with local Spanish promotes Xavi Manresa. The idea is simple: provide international export offices with a winter showcase event to present artists to key European summer festival programmers.  

Held mainly at the University of Lleida, Lleida Sessions Pro is a targeted, bespoke festival to present 10 artists to 10-15 international buyers. It will be held within Live Sessions Day, featuring 50+ bands in 8 venues, scattered across the city. Confirmed acts to showcase  include: Glitches (UK), The Resident Cards (US), Femme (UK), Deathfix (US), Louise Burns (CA), Seward (CAT) and Pull My Strings (CAT).

In addition to the showcase, Lleida Sessions Pro will offer a concise conference program, featuring highly-regarded speakers and guests from all over the world, including  Arts Council England CEO Alan Davey, representatives from Latin America’s top music conference, Circualrt, Sounds Australia, and Canadian Music Week.

This will be combined with delegate receptions and networking activities aimed to build relationships in a relaxed atmosphere. Major festival directors and bookers, including  Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, Sziget Festival, Eurockeenes and Sonar Festival have already confirmed their presence at Lleida Sessions Pro, along with BBC Radio 1’s  Ally McRae and journalists from The Line of The Best Fit and  IQ Magazine. Finally, as  part of the conference a Spanish festivals' meeting will be also held.

When Martin Elbourne first visited Lleida he realised that it would be the perfect location for a showcase event. ‘Over ten venues in close proximity, amazing scenery and incredible food and wine. I realised we only needed a strong programme with high quality international bands to make it a successful event. And that's exactly what we will offer. Bookers for major international festivals such as Reading and Leeds, Sziget, Sonar and Eurockeenes, have already trusted in the potential of this new event and will join us in this first edition,’ he said.
