R&S Records Sign Distribution Deal with Believe Digital

Renowned independent label R&S Records has signed a deal with leading distributor and services provider Believe Digital.

Utilising Believe’s services, the deal will include digital distribution, video management, digital & trade marketing, neighbouring rights and sync. The agreement will cover all download and streaming services worldwide, excluding Japan, US and Canada.

Founded in 1984 in Belgium by Renaat Vandepapeliere and Sabine Maes, R&S Records has now become one of the most established and recognised labels in dance music, and a major player in the wider independent music industry. The label initially rose to notoriety releasing cutting edge techno from electronic producers such as Aphex Twin, Derrick May, CJ Bolland, and Model 500. Re-launching in 2008 with a brand new roster, the label has since kick-started the careers of global breakthrough act James Blake, indie band Vondelpark, as well as figureheads in the underground dance scene Space Dimension Controller, Lone, Blawan, and Airhead.

Believe will be working with R&S to maximise their existing catalogue whilst looking ahead to implement successful digital strategies for a host of upcoming key projects. Believe will be providing R&S with the full breadth of their services, working with them on video channel management, sync opportunities, and international marketing support.

Ben Rimmer, Director of UK Distribution & Label Services at Believe Digital says of the signing: “We’re delighted to be able to welcome R&S Records to Believe and strengthen our remit on dance and electronic music. We’re looking forward to working with them across their fantastic catalogue, with an initial focus on key releases including Nils Frahm’s Nonkeen project, and Lone’s highly acclaimed new album”.

R&S Records Founder Renaat Vandepapeliere added: “I’m extremely happy to be starting this new relationship with the guys at Believe.  From what I have seen so far they will do a great job in representing R&S and our associated labels”.

The signing further expands Believe’s dance and electronic catalogue and significantly grows their market share in this genre. R&S join the distributor alongside Prime Direct Distribution, Southern Fried Records, Moda, Foreign Family Collective, and Southern Record Distribution.

The account will be managed by Label Manager Panos Polimatidis, who also oversees key electronic accounts such as Future Classic, Jai Paul & A.K. Paul’s Paul Institute imprint, and has overseen releases from Nao on Little Tokyo Recordings and Mura Masa, Bonzai, and Jadu Heart on Anchor Point.
